Frequently asked questions
- Is this really anonymous?
- We require no account, email, or name, and log no IP addresses. Submit over Tor and your network path is hidden too. We’re built so we can’t identify you.
- Can you be forced to identify me?
- We can only hand over what we have: submissions encrypted to an offline key, and no IP logs. We can’t produce a source identity we never collected.
- What happens to what I send?
- It’s encrypted the instant it arrives and can only be opened on an offline machine. We review it, verify what we can, and decide whether it’s in the public interest to publish — after redacting anything that could identify you.
- Will you publish everything?
- No. We publish only what we can verify and responsibly redact. Some material informs reporting without being posted in full.
- How do I know this is the real DenaliDrop?
- This website (denalidrop.org, with a valid HTTPS certificate) is where the official .onion address is published. A Tor onion address can’t be impersonated once you have the right one — always cross-check it here.
- Is this run by a political party or campaign?
- No. DenaliDrop is an independent, non-commercial project. We weigh submissions on the public interest alone.
- My documents might contain hidden information — what should I do?
- We strip location data from photos automatically, but PDFs and Office files can carry author names and tracked changes. Scrub sensitive files before sending.
- Can I follow up or send more later?
- Yes. Keep your codename and return through the drop box to read our replies or add to your submission.
